Bangkok  Chiang Mai  Pai  Chiang Rai

And the adventure begins

Our first adventure, backpacking through South East Asia. We started in Bangkok inhaling everything this enormous city has to offer. Visiting temples, day and evening markets, the giant shopping malls, hopping in taxi’s, tuktuks and, as you can imagine, lots of walking through the streets of the craziest city we’d ever seen.

After Bangkok we traveled to Chiang Mai to attend the Loi Krathong festival. And, of course, to go on a jungle trekking. Which was so touristy I can’t even describe. But we loved it anyway.

This was by far our most favorite place to be. Spending our days on the scooter cruising around the area and spending the nights walking through the village its market and dining from the streets. I would love to go back here someday.

Travelling from Thailand to Laos meant we had to make a short stop in Chiang Rai for one night so we could hop on the slow boat the next day. So we had a few hours to spend in Chiang Rai. And what better to do than taking a tourist trip to all the highlights of the city in one afternoon. Loved it.

And getting tattoo’s in Pai old school, with bamboo sticks. That’s a thing we can cross of our list too.

We loved Northern Thailand. I would definitely want to go back and visit some smaller more ‘of the beaten track’ places. Who knows one day. But for now, moving on to Laos.
